AAB 2018-19

Mr Roger William Dawson - Chair - Prof Dip Mngmt (Open) I Eng MIET

I am a fully qualified Electrical Engineer who has worked for 50 years in the electricity supply and associated industries. During this time I have held several senior leadership positions including, in more recent times, directorships in two independent companies. I am a Knottingley born person, married with two sons - both of whom attended Knottingley High School. In my 30 years’ experience of being a Governor I have seen many changes, most notably, the move to Academy status. My view is that De Lacy Academy belongs to the community and students of Knottingley.  The staff members at De Lacy are committed to provide the best possible education for our students and the change in management and the move to Academy status has led to a 50% improvement in achievement in the recent past. Our aim is to ensure sustained and consistent improvement to build on the excellent results of recent years.
Mrs Pam Smith - Community Governor - Vice Chair

I am a semi - retired business woman with a background in Education.  A qualified teacher, experienced at teaching in secondary school and also FE, with a degree in Education Management.  A member of the Institute of Biology, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Institute of Directors.  I am also a qualified business coach and run my own Coaching business.  I have been a governor for 5 years and I became a governor to use my skills to support the development of De Lacy Academy and the success of the students.   I have worked with both staff and students in supporting the constantly improving standards of the Academy.
Mr Michael Whittle - Delta Governor

I have been a teacher for over 35 years with experience of leading both a large technology faculty as well as being a member of Leadership of an outstanding academy.  I also have experience of successfully developing academy buildings and facilities so that pupils can learn in a vibrant and safe learning environment. I hope my experience will support the academy as it begins the process of a major rebuild/refurbishment in Priority School Programme Phase 2.
Ms Andrea Rhodes - Parent Governor

My name is Andrea Rhodes and I recently joined the governing body as a parent governor.  As I have a child that attends the school I am very keen to learn what happens behind the scenes and offer my help and support for now and in the future.  I work for a  local company as a calibration assistant and want this school to be one of the best assets for the community and for the pupils who attend it. This can then give every pupil the best possible experiences and development opportunities to prepare them for their futures.
