Creative iMedia
What is Creative iMedia?
Creative iMedia is a vocational course which equips students with a wide range of knowledge and skills needed to work in the creative digital media sector. They start at the pre-production phase and develop their skills through a number of practical assignments as they create a number of different multimedia products.
How does the course break down?
In Year 10, you will complete two pieces of coursework. The first assignment will be to plan and then create some form of digital graphic, using Photoshop. The second assignment will be to create a multipage comic, using Photoshop and Comic Life. Year 11 is where you will learn about the media industry ahead of an exam in January. There is no coursework to produce in Year 11 and so the work done in Year 10 is important.
How is the course assessed and what does it lead to?
Coursework, completed in Year 10, comprises 60% of your final grade–the digital graphic unit is worth 25% and the comic strip unit, 35%. You will set a written exam, in Year 11, worth the remaining 40% of y our grade. The course could lead to a level 3 qualification at college and then onto a career in graphic design, marketing and beyond in the digital media sector.
